Happy International Women’s Day to all those fabulous boss ladies out there! Today, across the world, we celebrate all of our incredible accomplishments and we tip our hats to our drive and ambitions. Nothing is impossible to achieve, it just takes hard work, determination, passion and GRIT. Yep, ladies, it takes grit! The world is our oyster, we just have to go out there and slay it.
As an entrepreneur myself, I found that second to being a mom, this has been both the hardest and more rewarding time in my life. Defining who I am, what I want and stopping at nothing to fulfill a dream.
Today I share what I believe to be the TOP HABITS of highly successful women.
1. Carve Out Time for Self Care Daily
This is essential to your success. Make it a habit to take ‘me time’ DAILY. Hit the gym at lunch, take the long way home and crank up an awesome playlist, make dinner plans with a friend on a weeknight, take a relaxing bath, the list goes on and on.

2. Find Balance
Finding balance is key! Sure, we all live crazy busy lives these days and it can be hard to keep up with your work life, your personal life and finding time to do all the things you love that keep you going. But the fact is, you MUST find the time to allow for balance.

3. Find Your Go-To Distraction
Why do I need a go-to distraction you ask? Let me elaborate. For me personally, I found late evening to be the time that I would actually start to second guess myself and my actions. Am I good enough? Am I smart enough? What if I fail? What if I can’t find investors? What if I lose everything? What type of job do I get if I can’t make this work? Yep, all questions a true entrepreneur asks herself. Maybe your self-doubt thoughts look a little different but the fact is, we all have them. So, what do you do about it?
Simple. You distract yourself. Find something that stops those thoughts dead in their tracks before they take over. My go-to distraction is an awesome Netflix show or a nice, sweaty yoga class. I just shut it all down and unplug my brain. Maybe your go-to distraction is a hot bath and some relaxing music, or maybe its a good book but make sure it’s a book that has absolutely NOTHING to do with business. Allow yourself that break.
I found that if I allow myself to lean into my distraction, I wake up feeling more confident, re-energized, and have a stronger sense of clarity. I feel ready to tackle another day with a fresh perspective.
4. Set Goals and Intentions
We always feel better when we’re in action mode. Goals keep your brain focused on making positive changes in your life. Even the act of making a list of goals can shift your mindset. So grab a pen and put it to paper stat.
Think both short-term and long-term with your goals. Keep the short-term goals a little more simple and reach further with the long-term goals. Think of this act as charting your roadmap by taking charge of your life, fueling your fire and letting empowering thoughts flood your mind.
5. Make Your Bed
This may seem super basic but the simple act of making your bed each morning can give you an instant sense of accomplishment. Creating daily ‘feel good’ habits go a LONG way in your productivity. Another simple, feel good habit is to wake up a little earlier than normal to enjoy some quiet time before your day kicks into high gear. A cup of coffee and little peace and quiet each morning or even just a few days a week will go a long way.
5. Tackle The Most Important Items On Your To-Do List First
This may seen like a no-brainer but it’s easy to get lost in a sea of to-dos. Try to tackle the most important things on your to-do list first. This is where your daily or weekly punch list is key. It’s all about staying true to that list, staying focused and prioritizing!
Fact, distractions happen. Just don’t allow yourself to get sucked into a time-consuming task if it’s not a priority. Try to complete one thing before moving on to the next. Oh, and don’t forget to take some little well-need breaks.
Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible.
I’ll wrap up by saying this… you and you alone hold ALL the power. It takes a heck of a lot of guts and willpower to carve out your path but never give up and never lose sight of your goals. You’re strong. You’re powerful. And You define your destiny. That may sound cliche but it’s true.
Never lose sight of who you are and where you want to go. Life is certainly going to throw you some curve balls but it’s up to you to be strong and stay the course. Remember to always follow your intuition because it’s your guide. Life has taken me in so many different directions over the years but by letting go and following my intuition, my life is so much richer because of it.
