Need a brain boost? We’ve got the perfect go-to tonic just for you. If you’re looking to activate your brain, boost your mood and balance your hormones look no further.
Let’s start with the base, walnut milk. Why walnut?
It’s really kind of zany how much a walnut half looks like a brain The human brain is made up of about 60% of what is called “structural fat” and needs high-quality fats like omega-3s to function properly by keeping the brain fluid and flexible. Walnuts are loaded with omega-3s which make them the ultimate “brain food.”
Some studies have linked low consumption of omega-3s to depression and decreased cognitive function. So making walnuts part of your diet could be a good way boost your spirits as well as your IQ.
Now let’s supercharge our walnut milk.
With walnut milk as our base we’re already one step ahead. Now it’s time to enhance it with a nutrient-dense, brain boosting superfood.
By now you’ve probably heard of Blue Majik or E3Live a.k.a. blue spirulina. If not, let us be the first to introduce you to this mystic beauty. Super rich in antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties, Blue Majik has been praised as one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet.
What is it? The sky-hued, electrolyte-filled ingredient is derived from spirulina, and it’s a proprietary extract of the blue-green algae Arthrospira plantensis.
It contains 22 times more iron than spinach and six times more antioxidants than blueberries. It’s safe to say this naturally-derived ingredient is a brain boosting powerhouse!
Walnut Majik Milk Recipe
- 1 1/2 cups raw walnuts
- 4 cups water
- 2 tsp Blue Majik
- 2 pinches of pink salt
- 2 teaspoons coconut nectar or raw honey
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch of nutmeg
Put the dry, raw walnuts in a bowl and add enough water to cover. Soak in the fridge overnight. In the morning (or 8 hours later), drain the walnuts and transfer to a blender.
Add the water and all remaining ingredients to the blender. Blend on high until the nuts are broken down to a pulp and the liquid is milky, about 45 seconds.
Strain with a nut milk bag, store in a glass container with an air tight lid and enjoy.
How often should I drink this?
We recommend making a batch once a week if time permits and drinking 6-8 oz daily or at least 4-5 times a week. By being consistent in drinking this tonic you’ll be more likely to see (and feel) the results.
