If there’s one thing I try to live by it is finding balance. We all live such busy, fast-paced lives these days and it can be hard to keep up with your work life, your personal life and finding time to do all the things you love that keep you going.
I’m a wife, a mom to three kids and a entrepreneur. For me, finding balance is key. It’s important on SO many levels but it can be really hard at times. However, it’s crucial for your overall health and well-being.
So first and foremost, where can you simplify?
If you take a step back to examine both your work and personal life, I bet you can find ways to cut back on the things that may be distracting or overworking you. We tend to try to be many things to all people and it’s just not possible in most cases. So, take a deep breath and clear some space for yourself. You totally deserve it.
Secondly, make time for what makes you happy.
Your health depends on it. If you’re happy, the people around you are happy and your mind and body are happy. It’s a pretty simple formula. I hear people say all the time that they don’t have time to exercise or there’s no time to meet up with a friend for coffee but if it’s really that important to you, you’ll make time. Again, find your balance.
Thirdly, find balance in your eating habits.
It’s so important to take a well-rounded approach to eating. Take a closer look at what your habits look like now and how you think you could improve upon them. What needs to change? Getting your daily dose of whole fruits and vegetables is incredibly important, that’s a given. Watching your portions and keeping a close eye on your snacking habits are key too.
I certainly don’t overthink the way I eat but I do maintain a healthy way of eating and I’ve cut out the things that aren’t good for my family and found substitutes that still seem to make everyone happy. And yes, I do have a bit of a sweet tooth so I always have organic, dark chocolate bars in the pantry. When I’m craving something sweet, I grab a square and I might even slather a little fresh peanut butter or almond butter on top. So good!!
So remember this…
Never lose sight of who you are and where you want to go. Life is certainly going to throw you some curve balls but it’s up to you to be strong and stay the course. Remember to always follow your intuition because it’s your guide. Life has taken me in so many different directions over the years but by letting go and following my intuition, my life is so much richer because of it.
